MUSIC AT GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY

The Music Program at Georgetown is distinctive for its emphasis on the study of the performing arts as both a creative activity within contemporary society and a cultural manifestation of multiculturalism in the American World. The Music Program consists of courses, degree programs, and a wide variety of student-run and professionally-led groups and ensembles operated by the Department of Performing Arts.

MUSIC DEGREES

The major in American Musical Culture is designed for students interested in pursuing careers and/or graduate study in: American studies, arts management, cultural criticism, entertainment law, media studies, music journalism or musicology. PERFORMING GROUPS

MUSIC LESSONS

Lessons are available on campus to all students in voice and most instruments. Download the list of instructors.

PRACTICE ROOMS

Practice rooms are available. Students taking music lessons or enrolled in music courses are given first priority, but after the third week of the semester, rooms are available to all the performing arts students and then to the general student body.
