Ballet Folklórico Mexicano de Georgetown
POSADA: Camino a Belen (The Way to Bethlehem)
Directed by Jasmin Nava (COL ‘18) and Diego Tum-Monge (COL ‘19)
This family-friendly winter showcase is intended to reflect a posada, a nine-day festive anticipation of Christmas in Mexican culture. Beginning with caroling in front of Dahlgren Chapel (representing Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter in Bethlehem), the event then moves to additional locations on campus to recreate their journey, ultimately landing at Gaston Hall for a diverse program featuring traditional dances from four Mexican states. A reception follows with authentic foods.

GBlack Movements Dance Theatre joyously returns to the stage with their Black History Month Concert Celebration. BMDT concludes the dance season at Gonda with a thrilling program featuring both signature offerings and a newly commissioned work. The program features student choreography along with master and emerging artists.Black Movements Dance Theatre seeks to reach beyond borders to entertain and unite diverse audiences; while providing a common ground to empathize, honor and inspire all to carry on. We look forward to sharing the celebration with you.

ONE MOVE, ONE GROOVE is an annual hip-hop showcase hosted by Georgetown University’s co-ed hip-hop team, Groove Theory. The showcase will feature exciting performances from Georgetown groups and hip-hop teams and crews from around the DMV area. Come join us for a night of extreme fun, FIERCE dance moves, and a visual appreciation for the cultural phenomenon shaping today’s pop culture horizon.

Festivals heralding the arrival of spring have long been a tradition in Mexico. In small towns, populous modern cities, and even famous archaeological sites such as Chichen Itza, locals and visitors alike gather together to celebrate this season of renewal with colorful parades and traditional food, music, and dance. As a group that strives to preserve and share these traditions, BFMG invites all members of the diverse and exciting DC community to join in this family-friendly celebration! Experience a combination of traditional dances from four Mexican states that embodies the diversity of this wonderful country. A reception follows with authentic foods.
