About Us

The Georgetown University Department of Performing Arts fosters artistic excellence, interdisciplinary learning, socially engaged performance, and the spirit of collaboration. Home to the College’s undergraduate degree programs in American Musical Culture and Theater & Performance Studies as well as dozens of performing groups in music, theater, and dance, the Department features a renowned faculty and close partnerships with leading arts organizations from the D.C. region and beyond.

Recently the Department’s programs and events have been highlighted in U.S. News and World Report, American Theatre, The Washington Post, PBS Newshour Art Beat, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. Georgetown students have recently performed dance at the White House, participated in concert tours in Italy and Turkey, and served as U.S. delegates at the UNESCO World Theater Conference in Peru.
