I worked with the Department of Performing Arts for all four years of my time at Georgetown, first as a patron services and admin assistant, then as one of the student managers. I have refined various useful skills, including customer service, organization, and teamwork. I had the opportunity to work with students across various schools, majors, and grades, and I have enjoyed being part of the Department and being involved in both academic and extracurricular shows.

I’ve worked in the Scene Shop for 3 1/2 years at Georgetown, and been involved in other performing arts activities in and out of the department. On top of giving me skills I’ll use throughout my life (like knowing how to use tools and build things safely), my time there has introduced me to wonderful people and helped me understand the behind-the-scenes of theater. My experience has prepared me for future careers, especially in technical theater, by exposing me to the various types of work that make a production run and giving me a base to build off of when I want to learn more. Overall, I’ve loved my time working in the Department of Performing Arts, and I feel so fortunate that I chose to apply my freshman year.
