Donn B. Murphy One-Acts Festival

Featuring Four Lemons and a Funeral by Allison Lane (COL ’19)
and Hazel & Stanley by Timmy Sutton (COL ’20)
Directed by Kate Clark (COL ’21)
Produced by Grace Crozier (COL ’21)

Dana and Lauren are trying to make it through their mother’s funeral. But as the scent of lemon squares fills the kitchen, so do memories of times they needed these familiar treats and each other. Hazel and Stanley have just started college and they’re doing fine. As time goes on, however, their lives become fractured and they struggle to just be two boys on a rooftop. In their new one-act plays, Georgetown student playwrights Allison Lane and Timmy Sutton delve into human relationships with heart and hope, exploring who we go to in times of hurt and hardship and the aftermath of vulnerability.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

By William Shakespeare
Directed by Eliza Palter (COL ’20)
Produced by Christian Collier (COL ‘19)

Folklore, love, and rebellion abound in this fresh and fast-paced staging of Shakespeare’s classic A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Spurred by passion, four young lovers flee into an enchanted forest where the feuding Fairy King and Queen reign supreme. At the hand of meddlesome Puck, a thoroughly mischievous sprite, the lovers inexplicably find themselves obsessed with the wrong person, leading them over hill and dale in pursuit of their hallucinatory desires. Brimming with poetry, music, and magical hijinks, Mask and Bauble’s high-energy production will envelop the audience in a chaotic and joyful celebration of love and all its pitfalls.
