Professor Michael Bracy Hosts the Music Policy Forum Intensive at Georgetown University

Professor Michael Bracy is the founder of the Music Policy Forum, an organization that seeks to highlight the value of music and music education through strategic partnerships with businesses, nonprofits, and the government. The Music Policy Forum works to develop vibrant music economies that uplift both local communities and professional musicians.
This past December, Professor Michael Bracy led the Music Policy Forum Intensive at Georgetown University. The Intensive united music leaders, policymakers, and advocates for focused discussions on the intersection of the music economy and higher education in the DC area.
Professor Bracy reflected on the unique value that Georgetown University could bring to a policy-focused advocacy for music: “When the Music Policy Forum decided to create an On Campus model, I immediately knew that Georgetown would be the ideal host for our pilot event. Georgetown has opened its doors and hosted discussions about strengthening music ecosystems for decades. More importantly, musicians, venues, government officials and other regional music stakeholders are eager to sit down with Georgetown students, faculty, and administrators in pursuit of opportunities to collaborate and strengthen our scene.”
Looking ahead, Bracy shared, “Unsurprisingly, the December 6 event was a huge success and we are excited about what comes next.” Bracy and the Music Policy Forum will continue developing local music ecosystems around the United States.
