Georgetown University Dance Company, GU’s oldest dance organization on campus and pre-professional repertory dance ensemble presents their Fall 2014 Season. This powerful, passionate and diverse program presents both professional and student choreography, ranging from classical ballet, contemporary to high energy hip hop works.

This contemporary dance-theater company, which draws on techniques from Dunham to hip-hop, tap to Ailey, performs signature company works along with new works by professional guest and student choreographers and performers.

Posada: Camino a Belen (The Way to Bethlehem)

Directed by Mariana González (MSB’ 15) and Stephanie Gutierrez (MSB’ 15)

Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de Georgetown’s annual winter showcase is intended to reflect a Mexican posada, a nine-day festive anticipation of Christmas in Mexican culture. This event begins with caroling in the quadrangle outside Dahlgren Chapel (lyrics distributed in Spanish with English translations), then proceeds into Gaston Hall for a program of traditional dances from four Mexican states that embody the diversity of this wonderful country. Following the performance, a reception featuring delicious and authentic foods will be hosted by Hilltop Tacos.

Ritmo y Sabor
Written, Conceived and Adapted by the Students of Georgetown University Ritmo y Sabor

Ritmo y Sabor’s 2015 Spring Showcase brings together the forces of spicy modern Latin rhythms. The show will feature pieces from the group’s repertoire prepared for this showcase, as well as collaborative pieces with non-member Georgetown students and other Georgetown dance groups.
