The concert will focus on the music for the feast of All Souls, and feature the Requiem (Officium Defunctorum) à 6 by Tomás Luis de Victoria (1548 – 1611).

GU Concert Choir will join the University Orchestra to perform works by Leonard Bernstein for the centennial of his birth—a year of local, national, and worldwide events that pay tribute to this incomparable artist whose influence and impact on arts and culture in the U.S. and around the world have transcended genres and generations. Program includes Candide Overture, excerpts from Mass, and Chichester Psalms.

Celebrating its eighth year! Ring in the holiday season with a singing of the Christmas portion of Handel’s famous oratorio. Prof. Binkholder and professional soloists and orchestra will lead the gathered ensemble through the choruses of Part I: “And the Glory of the Lord,” “And He shall Purify,” “Glory to God,” “O thou that Tellest,” “His yoke is easy,” and “Hallelujah.” In keeping with the philanthropic tradition of this work, donations will be accepted with all proceeds going to the Lombardi Cancer Center. Feel free to bring your own score, or one can be provided for you. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Winners of the Concerto Competition perform a concerto accompanied by the Georgetown University Orchestra conducted by Prof. Angel Gil-Ordóñez. The program also features a selection of some of Jean Sibelius’s most extraordinary works, including Finlandia and excerpts of his Symphonies No. 3 and 5.

Fauré Requiem
The Requiem by Gabriel Fauré is one of the most beloved works in all choral literature. The transcendent quality of this late 19th century work, is revealed by Fauré’s modification of the typical requiem text by removing the sequence Dies Irae (Day of Wrath), and replacing it with the much beloved Pie Jesu.

DC A Cappella Festival 2018
The DC A Cappella Festival (DCAF) is the annual concert co-hosted by the Phantoms, GU’s first co-ed a cappella group, and the GraceNotes, GU’s first all-female a cappella group. Each weekend’s performance features different guest groups. Programs include songs ranging from oldies to rock to pop, featuring debuts of new arrangements mixing traditional and eclectic styles.
