BALLET FOLKORICO MEXICANO DE GEORGETOWN (student-produced event)
Posada: Camino a Belen (The Way to Bethlehem)
Directed by Andrea Charcas (MSB ’19) and Rocío Mondragón-Reyes (COL ‘19)
This family-friendly winter showcase is intended to reflect a posada, a nine-day festive anticipation of Christmas in Mexican culture. Beginning with caroling in front of Dahlgren Chapel (representing Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter in Bethlehem), the event then moves to additional locations on campus to recreate their journey, ultimately landing at Gaston Hall for a diverse program featuring traditional dances from four Mexican states. A reception follows with authentic foods.

The 10th Annual Groove Theory Hip-Hop Showcase
ONE MOVE, ONE GROOVE is an annual hip-hop showcase hosted by Georgetown University’s co-ed hip-hop team, Groove Theory. The showcase will feature exciting performances from Georgetown groups and hip-hop teams and crews from around the DMV area. Come join us for a night of extreme fun, fierce dance moves, and a visual appreciation for the cultural phenomenon shaping today’s pop culture horizon.

Spring 2019 Showcase
Ritmo y Sabor’s 2019 Spring Showcase brings together various styles of Latin dance. The show will feature pieces from the group’s repertoire prepared for this showcase, as well as collaborative pieces with non-member Georgetown students and other Georgetown dance groups.

Festivals heralding the arrival of spring have long been a tradition in Mexico. In small towns, populous modern cities, and even famous archaeological sites such as Chichen Itza, locals and visitors alike gather together to celebrate this season of renewal with colorful parades and traditional food, music, and dance. As a group that strives to preserve and share these traditions, BFMG invites all members of the diverse and exciting DC community to join in this family-friendly celebration! Experience a combination of traditional dances from four Mexican states that embodies the diversity of this wonderful country. A reception follows with authentic foods.
