Georgetown Saxatones

Audition dates/times:
Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 1 p.m.- 7 p.m.
Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 3 p.m.- 10 p.m.

Location:
New North Building, Studio C

Preparation:
First, auditionees will join us as we warm up together and introduce the Saxatones. Then, you will sign up for an individual time slot. After you’ve signed up for your individual audition, you are free to go and come back at your assigned time.

The audition itself is a relaxed process. When you arrive back for your audition, we will first lead you through a few scales to get a sense of your vocal range. Don't worry, these scale exercises are just a warm up for you. Then we'll ask you to sing whatever song you have prepared for your audition.

Come ready with a verse and chorus of any song that you like, and we invite you to look at our repertoire to get an idea of the type of music we sing. You can also see what songs current members sang for their auditions on our bio page (visit us at Saxatones.com). We ask that you please avoid show tunes or Disney music. Then we'll ask you for any questions you have, and you'll be on your way!

If you make it to the next round, we will invite you to our callbacks within a few days!

Georgetown Superfood

Audition date/times:
Sunday, January 13 from 2 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Location:
Studio C, New North Building

Preparation:
Auditioning is pretty simple. All you have to do is prepare a verse and a chorus of any song that showcases your voice (preferably pop, rock, alternative, r&b, or country. Please no musical theater) and we'll teach you the rest. Here’s what to expect:

Part 1:
At the beginning of each audition round, everyone will warm up together by singing a couple of scales. Then we’ll ask you to sign up for an individual audition slot for later that day.

Part 2:
Your individual audition will last only about 6 minutes, so don’t sweat it! When you show up, the first thing we’ll ask you to do is sing a scale pattern up and down the piano (don't worry, we'll teach it to you!) so we can hear your range and get to know your voice. Next, you’ll sing back a few random notes that we play for you on the piano so we can get a better idea of how you match pitches. Third, you’ll sing your solo – the verse and chorus of the song that you prepared. Finally, we may ask you some general questions to let us get to know you better. Then you’re done!

All are welcome and encouraged to audition. No prior experience is necessary! We intend to hold callbacks the same day as auditions, so please keep your phones near you in case we give you a call and ask you to return for a few additional exercises.
