The tale of Aladdin is one of the most well known and beloved children’s classics where a poor boy from the streets marries the girl of his dreams and becomes a prince with the help of the Genie, the magic carpet, and all our favorite characters from the ancient world of the Arabian Nights! As the evil Magician Jafar seeks the Genie of the lamp, Aladdin seeks the love of Princess Jasmine. Unfortunately, Jasmine’s mother, the Sultan, doesn’t believe in marrying for love and insists that the princess must marry a husband of his choosing! While Aladdin tries to win over the princess, he dragged into an ancient rivalry between his new friend, the Genie, and his new enemy, Jafar. As Jafar’s grand scheme unfolds, will evil triumph or will love save the day?

The Emperors New Clothes
Adapted by Adrian Prado (COL'14)
Based on the story by Hans Christian Anderson
Directed by Adrian Iglesias (COL '14)
Produced by Laura Narefsky (COL'14)

A vain emperor in search of new robes is duped by a pair of swindlers. They claim that they will make him a suit of the finest fabric, so fine in fact, that anyone who is unworthy to wear it cannot see it. They “work” on the suit and finally “dress” the emperor in his new clothes. The clothes appear “invisible” to all that see the emperor who assumes that they must therefore be unworthy. It is not until the innocent voice of a child shouts out that the truth about the suit is revealed to the emperor.

While this play is intended to be performed for children, it can be enjoyed by audience members of all ages, especially the young at heart. Audience participation is frequently encouraged throughout the production.
