Community Sand Mandala Sand Contest
In honor of our weeklong Festival of Interfaith Arts, the Davis Center seeks submissions for an original design to be created of colored sand in the Gonda Theatre lobby April 17-21.
The winning mandala design should engage the themes of the festival—fostering interfaith renewal, understanding & peace—and will be made into a 3’x 3’ sand painting by members of the Georgetown community, supervised by Tibetan Buddhist monks. Also in the Davis Center lobby, the monks will create their own sacred sand mandala, designed to purify and heal the earth and its inhabitants.
Submission Guidelines
- Entries due April 11 at 5:00pm.
- Entries may be submitted either via a hard copy or digital file.
- Designs should be in color & need not resemble a traditional Buddhist mandala.
- Hard copy designs, approximately 10”x10,” should be presented in color. If submitted as a digital file, save designs on CD as a PDF or JPG file so the design shows approximately 10”x10” at minimum 300dpi resolution.
- Clearly label your design, including name, contact information and a brief artist statement.
