Closing Ceremony

Running time: Approx 1 ¼ hours (ceremony and procession)
To mark the end of the Children of Interfaith Arts Festival, join monks of the Tibetan Drepung Loseling Monstery in the Davis Performing Arts Center lobby as they complete construction of the mandala sand painting after five days of painstaking work.
Once the final grain of sand is put into place, a brief 20 minute ceremony will take place. Then, as a metaphor of the impermanence of life, the mandala will be swept away and carried to a nearby body of water. We invite you to join the procession through the heart of Georgetown to the C&O Canal (30 – 45 minutes)
