2005-06: Season of Transformation

Schoolgirl Figure

by Wendy MacLeod

Directed by Jen Rogers ('06)

April 19-21, 2006 at 8PM and 22 at 2PM and 8PM in the Devine Theatre, Senior Thesis Project

A powerful satire about the culture of eating disorders, Schoolgirl Figure is daring, funny, educational, and, finally, quite moving and compassionate. Directed by Jen Rogers for her senior thesis project, this virtuosic chamber play helps to raise audience awareness, and activism, around body image diseases and the silences around them. Darkly funny, important, oddly hopeful. Written by a Washington DC native, one of the most innovative of contemporary American playwrights.

Advised by MAYA ROTH, Set and Costume Design NATSU ONODA, Lighting Design DUSTIN MAGHAMFAR, Sound Design SOPHIE DAVIS, Technical Director ROBBIE HAYES, Stage Manager MICHAEL KOHLER

CAST: Lauren Scanlon (as Renee), Sara Rouhi (as Patty), Sophie Davis (as Jeanine), Ryan Wackerman (as the Bradley, Pablo, Marcel, Denis) and Sarah Taurchini (as Monique, Mila, Jane, Mrs. Blue, Guidance counselor).
