Irina Tsikurishvili

Adjunct Professor.


Irina Tsikurishvili graduated from the Tbilisi Chabukiani Ballet School, and performed as a principal dancer and mime in numerous productions at the Georgian State Pantomime Theater. From 1993-95, she served as choreographer for the Mimodrama Theater in Saarbrücken, Germany. For the Stanislavsky Theater, she choreographed and performed in numerous productions, including The Little Tragedies, The Idiot, Le Malade Imaginaire, Faust, and Don Quixhote. She received the prestigious Helen Hayes Awards for Choreography in 2000 and 2001 for her work on The Idiot and Faust, and has also received nominations for The Little Tragedies, and Don Quixhote. For Synetic Theater, she has choreographed every production and has performed in many of these productions, including as Ophelia in Hamlet…the rest is silence, the title role in Salomé, Margarita in The Master and Margarita, and Medea in Jason and the Argonauts. She won the Outstanding Choreography award for Hamlet…the rest is silence and The Master and Margarita. Mrs. Tsikurishvili was nominated for Host and Guest, Salomé, The Crackpots, Jason and the Argonauts and this season’s Dracula.
