Isaiah Wooden, B.A.

Isaiah has bIWeen the Artistic Advisor to the Black Theatre Ensemble (BTE) at Georgetown since 2005. A freelance director and designer, he has worked in both the region's professional and educational theaters. Recent directing and design credits include The Gospel at Colonus, A Raisin in the Sun, Wit, The Colored Museum, A Few Good Men, The Illusion, and Vinegar Tom. He has facilitated BTE's collaborations with the Theater Program, the English Department, and on and off campus cultural organizations, as well as its participation in the Lannan Literary and 365 Days/365 Plays festivals. He has also directed the Georgetown New Student Orientation show, NSO: The Daily Show, the last two years for Health Educational Services. As a speaker, he has shared the stage with notable politicians, athletes, artists, and scholars, discussing a broad range of topics. His creative and research interests include the politics and performance of identity in contemporary black theater and cross-cultural performance.  He received a Bachelor's degree in Government and Theater from Georgetown, where he was the recipient of the Misty Dailey Award for Excellence in Theater and named Outstanding Individual in the Performing Arts
